Special Enforcement Detail

The Mission Statement

The Mission of the Special Enforcement Detail (S.E.D.) is to respond to critical incidents that require specialized training. The goal of the SED unit is to resolve all incidents without the loss of life or injury.

The Team

The Special Enforcement Detail Team is comprised of ten to twelve highly motivated deputies. One of the team members is trained as a paramedic. All members of the team receive training in the following areas:

  • Chemical agents
  • Non-lethal force munitions
  • Diversionary devices
  • Hostage rescue
  • Officer down rescues
  • Warrant service
  • Response to critical incidents on school grounds
  • Auto and semi-auto rifle training
  • Handgun training

The team also has the availability of office hostage negotiators. Each negotiator receives specialized training to enhance their skills in negotiating a critical incident so they may assist the SED unit in attempting to resolve the incident peacefully. The SED team is also adding Tactical Dispatchers to their specialized team trained specifically in SED critical incidents
