Patrol Section

Traffic Enforcement Stop
Welcome to the Sutter County Sheriff's Office Patrol Section page. The Patrol Section
has the responsibility for providing law enforcement services to a county with approximately
608 square miles. There are two incorporated cities: City of Yuba City and the City of Live
Oak. The City of Yuba City has its own police force. The City of Live Oak contracts with the
Sutter County Sheriff's Office for all its law enforcement services. Additionally, the
Sheriff's Office is charged with patrolling approximately 187 miles of navigable waterways
in the county.
The Patrol Section has a total of 44 deputies: 35 deputies, 6 sergeants, 2 lieutenants and
the division commander. Seven deputies, one sergeant and one lieutenant are assigned to patrol the City
of Live Oak. Two deputies are assigned to the Boat Patrol along with a sergeant on a half
time basis. In addition, 2 deputies are School Resource Officers.
Since January 1999, the Patrol Section has implemented the Community Oriented Policing
Philosophy Program (COPPS), and the program continues to expand. We hope that you will find the
patrol division pages informative.
