Homicide Investigation Underway

On November 2, 2013, at about 6:30 PM, Sutter County Sheriff’s Office received numerous 911 calls of multiple gun shots fired in the area of MG Liquor, of the 2900 block of Pennington Road, Live Oak, California.

Deputies responded and discovered a male adult lying in the parking lot of MG Liquor. Medical personnel arrived on scene and attempted life saving measures but were unsuccessful. The male later identified as Marcos Tinoco, 36 years old, of Live Oak was pronounced dead at the scene, a victim of multiple gunshot wounds.

Live Oak Deputies in partnership with the Sutter County Gang Task Force initiated an investigation and subsequently identified Eduardo Ornelas Velasquez, 27 years old, of Live Oak as a suspect. They also identified James Patrick Holcomb, 22 years old, of Live Oak, as a Person of Interest. James Holcomb has a current warrant for his arrest for Attempted Homicide relating to a shooting which occurred in Live Oak in June of 2012. Both persons are validated members of the Norteno Criminal Street Gang and should be considered armed and dangerous.
