Update: Dead Infant Found along Sacramento River

For Immediate Release:

The autopsy examination regarding the body of an infant found along the Sacramento River on Wednesday evening, September 9, 2009 was completed this morning.

The autopsy results revealed that the baby was a newborn, full term female, possibly hispanic or white descent, however undetermined at this time, with the umbilical cord and placenta both attached and had been in the water for approximately a week. It is undetermined at this time if the child was breathing when she went into the water however there were no signs of trauma. The cause of death is pending microscopic pathology reports.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Sutter County Sheriff’s Department.
