Search Warrant Leads to Arrest

Net-5 and the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office have made an arrest of an off-duty Sutter County Correctional Officer as a result of an ongoing investigation.

Salvador Heriberto Vaca Jr., 37, a correctional officer at the Sutter County Jail was booked into Sutter County Jail for possession of methamphetamine for sale and transportation of drugs. As Vaca also had a firearm in his possession at the time of arrest, he will also be charged with committing a felony while armed.

On Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at approximately 3:15 P.M. Net-5 and Sutter County Sheriff’s Detectives served a search warrant on a Sutter County Correctional Officer and his personal vehicle during a traffic stop in the area of Colusa Highway and Civic Center Boulevard in Yuba City.

The arrest resulted in the seizure of drug paraphernalia along with packages of more than 3 grams of methamphetamine.

Sutter County authorities, with the assistance of Colusa County Sheriff’s Office also executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Yosemite Avenue, Colusa. No drugs or paraphernalia were found at that residence.

Investigators received information of suspected drug activity involving Vaca that culminated in an investigation resulting in the search warrants and Vaca’s arrest. The internal investigation is ongoing.
