Suspects Arrested in Fatal Live Oak Shooting

Two men are in custody this morning in connection with the shooting death of 25-year-old Vidal Montiel who was killed in a Live Oak drive-by shooting Saturday night. Edgar Gonzalez, 23 and Manuel Hernandez Rodriguez, 23, both of Yuba City, have been booked into the Sutter County Jail on charges of murder, conspiracy, participation in a criminal street gang, and promoting a criminal street gang.

On August 31, 2013, Sheriff’s deputies responded to 2800 block Deanne Street in Live Oak regarding a shooting. Upon arrival they discovered the victim had been shot and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Sutter County Sheriff detectives and the Yuba Sutter Gang Task Force have been working around the clock since the shooting which resulted in the seizure of the vehicle used by the suspects and the arrests of two suspects identified to have allegedly been involved in the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing and Sheriff’s detectives are seeking an additional third person of interest, Joel Tinoco, 22, of Live Oak (see attached photo).
