For Immediate Release:

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Sutter County Sheriff’s Reserve Association and Yuba City Wal-Mart Supercenter will be sponsoring the Sixth Annual Shop with a Cop Program. The event will be held at the Yuba City Wal-Mart Supercenter, 935 Tharp Road, Yuba City, on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 6 pm.

Now in its sixth year, it has proven to be a huge success by the children involved, their parents, and the community of Sutter County. The Shop with a Cop Program involves law enforcement officers donating their time to take a group of children on a Christmas shopping spree. This program allows children grades K-12 to receive a $100 gift certificate to go Christmas shopping for their family members with a uniformed deputy. This year 21 Sutter County Schools will participate with 26 children being selected for the program. The program provides children an opportunity to experience the personal rewards of giving to others. We are able to exchange smiles and laughter during this event with the community we serve and it is welcomed by everyone.

The event is funded solely by community donations. This year donations were received from the following:

Yuba City Wal-Mart Supercenter
Sutter Deputy Sheriff’s Association
Sutter County Sheriff’s Reserve Program
Motorola Solutions
King Clothing
Live Oak Kiwanis
K&D Driver Ranch
Broadway Street Lounge
Anonymous Donor
