Plane Crash

For Immediate Release:

On Sunday, April 3, 2011, approximately 12:47 P.M., Sutter County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 call of a possible downed ultralight aircraft in the area of Striplin Road about ¾ mile east of Pleasant Grove Road.

Emergency personnel responded and located the ultralight aircraft in an open field with the pilot trapped inside. The victim is identified as Edward Tomei, age 53, of Yuba City. He was transported to Sutter Roseville Hospital by air ambulance.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the crash of the ultralight aircraft. Any further information regarding this incident should be directed to either the FAA or the NTSB.
