For Immediate Release:

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Department will be providing a Boating and Waterways Education Class free to the public. Sutter County Boating Safety Deputies will be covering basic boating and waterway laws, required equipment, conducting lifejacket fittings and vessel safety inspections. The public is encouraged to bring their boats, personal watercraft or any vessels for a safety inspection and required equipment prior to the start of the boating season.

Boating Safety Deputies will be patrolling local rivers and lakes this summer and enforcing the laws. You may be cited and terminated from the water if you do not have the required equipment for your vessel. Before you go out with your friends and family, meet with the Boating Safety Deputies at one of these classes to ensure you are in compliance and boating safely.

• Saturday, May 22, 2010
• Sunday, May 23, 2010
