Boating Sobriety and Safety Inspection Checkpoint

Wednesday, June 24, 2009 9:45 AM

For Immediate Release:

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a Boating Under the Influence
(BUI) and Safety Inspection Checkpoint
the weekend of June 26-28, 2009.

The checkpoint will be in the unincorporated river areas in south Sutter County.

Boating Under the Influence is dangerous and illegal. Alcohol can impair a boater’s
judgment, balance, vision and reaction time. Curbing the number of alcohol-related
accidents and fatalities is a key to achieving safer and more enjoyable recreational
boating.

In addition to Boating Under the Influence enforcement, Sheriff’s Deputies will be
conducting a safety inspection, as well as distribute informational material about the
checkpoint to all boaters passing through.
