Thursday, August 28, 2008 12:00 PM

For Immediate Release:

On Monday, August 25, 2008, approximately 7:20 p.m. Sutter County Deputies responded to a report of a possible theft of farm equipment in the 3500 block of West Butte Road in Sutter.

The deputies were able to confirm that the stolen farm equipment was taken sometime during the night. The deputies had conducted a traffic stop earlier that morning on a blue Ford pickup for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop deputies observed pieces of metal farm equipment located in the bed of the pickup which they photographed due to the suspicious nature. The subjects were released at the scene with a verbal warning for traffic violations. Upon further investigation the deputies were able to determine the property was taken from the 3500 block of West Butte Road. The owner was able to identify his property by the photographs taken earlier. The stolen property included miscellaneous farm parts estimated at a total loss of $10,000.00 which was later recovered.

The investigation led to the arrest of Cory Martin Baltz, 30 years old and Patricia Ann Baltz, 30 years old, both out of Marysville. Both suspects were booked into the Sutter County jail on charges of possession of stolen property and grand theft. Patricia was also charged with committing a felony offense while on felony bail on a prior Yuba County offense.

The investigation is still on going and may lead to other arrests.
