About Us
The Sutter County Sheriff's Office is responsible for crime prevention, law enforcement,
and criminal investigation in the unincorporated areas of the County and the City of Live Oak.
Our correctional responsibilities include the operation of the County jail as well as providing
bailiff services for the County court system.
As the County Coroner, our office investigates all violent deaths and those deaths where
there is no certified cause. Additionally, as the Public Administrator for the County, the
Sheriff's Office is responsible for the investigation of facts pertaining to the death of
persons with no known heirs, and the administration of their estate.
Consisting of 145 full-time personnel, our office is ready to serve and protect the citizens of
Sutter County. Our main office as well as the County Jail is located in our Law Enforcement Center
in Yuba City, with resident deputies assigned to some of the outlying areas of the county. Our
office maintains close working relationships with other law enforcement agencies in the area and
has mutual aid agreements with the California Highway Patrol, the Yuba City Police Department, the
Yuba County Sheriff Department, and the Marysville Police Department.
