ATV Patrol
Using All Terain Vehicles (ATV), the Sutter County Sheriff's Office routinely patrols approximately
ten (10) miles of the Feather River bottoms during the spring, summer, and fall months. The area varies
in width between the tow of the levee and the river's edge from a few feet in the Yuba City area to
several hundred yards at Shanghai Bend Park. The river-bottoms are enjoyed by many citizen's such as
swimmers, hikers, bank fishermen, horseback riders, off-road bicyclists, and campers. The terrain is
diversified with woods, sandy beaches, and unimproved trails.
Supervised by Sergeant Greg Zembiec, the goal of the ATV Patrol unit is to ensure the public's safety
while they use the river bottoms. ATV deputies accomplish this by making their presence known while
enforcing state laws and county ordinances, with public safety being their prime concern.
